‘The King James Bible is a cornerstone of our culture and our language’
In 1611 the book that changed the world was published. Art, literature and music have been based on language and stories from it and it has had arguably far more influence on the English language than Shakespeare or any other author.
To celebrate this extraordinary book, we are going to follow centuries of tradition by reading it aloud; more than 250 volunteers of all ages from around Chester are going to read ALL of it over 80 hours in the two weeks of the Literature Festival.
Come and join in or just sit and listen to some of the most beautiful English you will ever hear.
