Is Upton just sprawling post-war suburbia or does it have an identity with its own life and soul stretching back to its small rural village roots?

Visit Upton Village Hall – the hub of the community and now in its ninth decade – to hear residents past and present share their memories and photographs.

Remember the old village school and the wild open places for children to play? The old mill and bakery? The local gentry and their staff? The former Dixon’s nursery and the Village Hall dances lasting until 2am? And much more besides?

Jan Bengree, a writer and Upton resident, will introduce the afternoon’s local speakers – Joyce Cook, Vera McLoed, Eddy Edison, George Bolton and others. Expect Lord Prescott to get mentioned - even if he doesn’t drop in!
