The Warrington Competition for Young Musicians’ has been held biennially since 1998. Prizes are awarded to the finalists of both the Lower Division (up to Grade 6) and the Upper Division (Grade 7 upwards). All entrants to the heats receive a short master-class from a professional adjudicator and a written appraisal. In 2004, the Competition was expanded to accept entries from young musicians under the age of 19 years living in the “WA” postal area. It now accepts entries from applicants resident in the WA, CH, CW, SK, L, WN or BL post code areas. This covers Cheshire, Merseyside and parts of Greater Manchester.
